I'm heading to Dekle Beach to photograph remains of the disaster of 1993, which is how I found your post. Do you know if today any of the remains are still around? Could you point me to where you took that amazing photo of the "Unsafe Dock" sign? Thank you!jair49https://www.blogger.com/profile/00642446462503359076noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6809489676293785559.post-6742817279855259742020-12-17T04:24:35.773-05:002020-12-17T04:24:35.773-05:00These are some great ideas. I sat directly across from the water. Daddy bought the place when I was a small child. We vacationed there all my growing up years. I wanted to keep it so my children could continue to use it, reserving it for ourselves for a couple of weeks in the summer. It was completely wiped away during the Storm of the Century. The lot was totally cleared off except for the bathtub, secured by galvanized piping (I assume). My sister was executress of Daddy's will. She had just transferred it to me and taken her half out of estate funds. She had not informed me that she had been unable to get insurance...so I lost my part. Much worse than that was the loss of life of a baby of Live Oak friends and the loss of my son's friend's fiancé. My new husband and I had planned to go down the day before, but someone invited us for dinner and had gone to a lot of trouble to prepare a favorite dish of my husband's. They insisted, so we thought we would do that, then go to Dekle the next day. Well, the next day, I thanked God for the distraction of the night before!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08892227219412176325noreply@blogger.com
